The walkups apartments and street houses used to monopolize cities in Taiwan as a universal solution to accommodate war refugees. But seven decades passed, today we develop such a contrast that high-rising housing estates become the major and ubiquitous objects within the cityscape while old buildings are labeled as countryside. People are leaving their home in exchange to profitable, entrepreneurial life in cities. It’s not a call for nostalgia but maybe a retrospection after many years of urban life.
